The miserly Munshi ji keeps track of his landlord Malik’s work and finances, as well as collecting extra money from people to save his coffers from dwindling. On the other hand, his wife Nandini is deeply in love with Deepu, who is burdened with Munshiji’s debts. Nandini wishes to elope with Deepu, but Deepu cannot even dream of doing so because of the legal documents kept by Munshiji as collateral.
